The Nebraska Transportation Center is proud to support K-12 education as a key part of our mission.

Use transportation engineering as a catalyst for engaging students in your math or science classroom with the lessons in our Teacher Resource Center. For a repository of high-quality, peer-reviewed lesson plans for grades 6-12, please visit: our lesson plan page.

For K-12 teachers, we offer the annual Summer Professional Development Science and Technology Institute, which provides tools for bringing engaging, hands-on transportation-based activities into your classroom to facilitate math and science learning. For more information and to apply, please visit the teacher application page.

K-12 students love visiting the UNL campus for our annual Engineering Excellence Experience Day each summer. Students are introduced to the world of engineering through visits to exciting research facilities and learning activities developed by teachers participating in the Summer Professional Development Institute. To submit an application for your child, please visit the student application page.

We welcome K-12 student groups that are interested in learning about transportation engineering and would like to visit the transportation research facilities at the newly remodeled Whittier Research Center. For more information or to arrange a field trip, please contact:
