Multimodal and intermodal transport is an increasingly prominent characteristic of today's surface transportation system. Well-integrated multimodal and intermodal systems can improve efficiency, security and safety for movers of goods. However, it creates some unique challenges as well, and this is where NTC faculty comes in. NTC researchers work to investigate ways to improve the technological, communicational and operational challenges of increased intermodal and multimodal transportation in Nebraska and nationwide. Finding ways to assess and meet the demand for intermodal transport is also a subject of interest among our researchers.
