Tracks to the Future was a program developed by Michigan Tech University involving two days of virtual live classroom instruction and hands-on activities followed by two days of in-person activities at different host locations, such as the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In Lincoln, the students visited the Nebraska Department of Transportation to meet with Ms. Jodi Gibson and Mr. Ryan Huff and participated in rail activities and presentations led by College of Engineering faculty Drs. Nathan Huynh and Joseph Turner and industry professionals Mr. Jason Tichota from David Evans and Associates, Inc. and Mr. Paul Vidmar from Benesch. Students also received a tour of the operations tower at BNSF's Hobson Yard while learning from industry professionals.

The 2025 program is currently accepting applications and will take place June 18 – 20
