The Nebraska Transportation Center would like to welcome Dr. Nathan Huynh as he prepares to start his professorship and directorship in the Spring semester. When he introduced himself to the department earlier this season, he said he was “eager to meet and work with colleagues across the four NU campuses, as well as sponsors and constituents, to build NTC’s past and current achievements.”
Dr. Huynh’s research focus is in supply chain and logistics, intermodal network design, freight transportation systems, civil infrastructures systems, and health care systems. Before accepting the position at UNL and NTC, Dr. Huynh spent 14 years at the University of South Carolina, serving as a PI or Co-PI of 52 funded projects.
His other academic experiences came from a faculty position at North Carolina A&T State University after working for the Port of Houston Authority as a project manager and systems analyst. His PhD and Master’s degrees in transportation engineering are from the University of Texas at Austin. He will use his knowledge and expertise to continue the research standards NTC is known for while expanding the capabilities of the center to grow its research impact and creative activity.
While Dr. Aemal Khattak will continue to serve as director of the Mid-America Transportation Center, Dr. Huynh is excited to begin his role as NTC’s director and build upon already established NTC relationships, saying “it is my sincere hope that together with our sponsors, partners, and affiliates … we will make long-lasting, positive impacts on the lives of Nebraskans and the State’s economy.”
